Folkore of dartmoor

One of my favourite projects I made during my degree.

This was a brief we were given at the start of the third year, but we were allowed to base it on whatever we liked. I decided to start at my home base, Dartmoor, and combined with my love of fantasy and mythicals, I came up with Folklore of Dartmoor. Dartmoor has so many different tales of Folklore like the hairy hand, so I used the different locations where the myths were based to start creating some observations.

The art of layering different techniques gave my samples some depth. Being able to push my textural exploration to the limits, allowed me to not aim for ‘perfection’ and just allowed myself to experiment and see what would work together.

The techniques I used were Devore, puff binder, acid dyes, natural dyes and other various binders and techniques. The final collection was aimed towards a unisex clothing collection for more autumn/ winter wear.

I would have loved to off been able to develop this further and make them into some real-life pieces as opposed to sample swatches.
